What's New at the Strong Tower
In the Beginning...
there was this place called Tripod where they give you some disk space on a server to the WWW, and you can put up a webpage for free! Pertty cool huh? Hey, over one million of you people out there thought so, just like me! Here is the site log for the Strong Tower.Sometime around the middle of January 1998, Aaron's Tripod Strong Tower was born. Actually it was a part of a Geocities site I designed for my church, and I just separated the personal stuff from the church stuff. I "finished" the site sometime around early February. There was one saturday afternoon I spent at the radio station working on my site. Why at the radio station? Because that was the week of the suprise snow storm that killed the power for a lot of Eastern Tennessee! After Jerry loaded video drivers (after all, life looks SOOO much better in 16 million colors!), I spent the afternoon turning .WAV's to RealAudio files, and working on graphics and pages for the site. Now for some more definite dates and info:
April 23, 1998: I uploaded the button farm (some people call it a links page, I call it a button farm!). It has a jillion more links to places than the old page did. Plenty of graphics sites, some Bible sites, even a couple of Stooges sites!
June 14, 1998: I updated my Paint Shop Pro Gas Page, in light of a recent upgrade.
June 27, 1998: Revised the Me target page with a new color, smaller picture, and a more compact format (no more scrolling here!). Also I updated the work page, due to a change in my employment situation. Plus, I added this here Site Log!
July 2, 1998: I uploaded a Thinkin' Suite, so now I have a place to air my right-winged, right-brained ramblings and stuff. I also changed my PSP suite into a Computer Graphics Suite, in hopes that one blue moon I might have some Photoshop, Corel, and Illustrator stuff to display. Perhaps. :)
July 4, 1998: Uploaded the Photoshop wing of the Graphics suite! BTW: happy 4th of July!!
July 14, 1998: Expanded the Web Stuff area into a full-blown suite of info about learning HTML, websteading, browsers, etc. basically taking one page of blather and turning it into 5 or 6 pages of drivel :)!
July 20, 1998: Added a Bible study to the Thinkin' suite. Check it out!
July 31, 1998: Woo Hoo! I downloaded Live Image and banged out an image map for my Gate on the index page. I had originally thought about a pop up image in a window overhead (my inspiration: the Atlanta Braves webpage), but laziness prevails! Enjoy!
September 1, 1998: After a little more work with Paint Shop pro version 5, I had a few more things to say about it. Check me out on the Gas page!
September 10, 1998: Welcome to a couple of Photoshop tutorials! One tells you how I made the Gate image on my index page. The other is a gargantuan tut that shows how you can make a really pretty picture frame for your pictures. Eat em' up!
Also I fixed up the Paint Shop Pro Suite and Photoshop Suite index pages with links back to the Graphics Suite Index page. I know the Back button works too, but hey, a link back on the page is not only more convenient, it's visible! Plus the simple fact was the link on the PSP Suite index didn't work! DOH! For the want of an l (in the file extention) the link was lost!
September 14, 1998: Put text links to all the varied suites on my index page (for those who cruise in graphics off mode). Also provided a link to Laurie McCanna's brushes at the Gate Tutorial.
March 14, 1999: Did you miss me? It sure has been awhile! Uploaded "Four More Years", a political observation about how four years has changed some things in our country. It's been rolling around in my head for awhile, but I never got it down. Perhaps the e-mail Tripod sent me saying "update your page, or we'll assume your dead and flush it!" gave me the motivation to get it into HTMLJ ! Granted there are a couple of items in the Me section that need updating, and I'll try to get them up too!
August, 2001 [DOH!]: Gave a LOOOOONG overdue overhaul of my links page, after someone informed me that the link to FEG Lichtenstein was going into a direction we Don't want to go! Also since the closing of i/us, many of my graphics links croaked too.
September 8, 2001: Fixed the tag attribute of my button so that it looks right.
